there were 14 anglers who turned out for the third leg of the clubs ‘Hilton’ competition held on the Victoria pier, and with the weather conditions near perfect there were high expectations of large bags of dogfish, but it turned out to be a slow old nights fishing for some.
There was not a lot of fish landed early in the competition so a few anglers tried there hand at catching some squid, but they slowly disappeared from the area, like the dogfish.
The winner on the night was Steve cowell with 12-07, in second place was Kenny clough with 9-08, and in third was lee Magee with 3-13.
The pools were shared out between two people, Steve cowell taking the bag pool & the heaviest other pool & the pairs with Jeff Taylor, whilst Jeff also took the heaviest dog pool with a 2lb fish.
The top three point scorer’s at the halfway stage are Kenny clough 13.5, second Steve cowell 12, and a tie for third between Paul hay & Colin duke with 8.5 points each, the full table can be found on the clubs website douglasangling.com.
