Unlike some people on this site i make no excuses ,after the skipper of Kirsty 111had faided miserably to put us on our intended target of Mackie,it was decided that we had enough launce to warrent a trip down to our favorite calig spot
.
Once there on the 1st drop i was into a fish and not long after so was Micheal . Fish came in steady on each drift at 1st but all fish were over the 3-4lb mark .
I then lost a hook having getting snagged but it was the tangle king Micheal that spent valuable time sorting out his rigs .Admin then got the bonus of a sizeable ling and thats all it was which went into the basket for tea .
At this point i pulled in the largest fish and this then put the preasure back onto Micheal .He did however start to get a good bend in is rod closely followed by me and when both fish were hauled in to the boat it was thought that these were the two best fish and appeared to be much of a muchness as regarding wieght .
We had a good1 1/2hrs fishing and decided it was starting to get boring so we headed back towards Douglas . Micheal was going to stop and have another go for some Mackie but the burden of may be losing another £ was to great so we came back into the harbour to wiegh in the 2 largest fish .
Victory was indeed Micheals' on this day as his calig was 3/4 lb heavier at 6.5.4lbs than mine so now going into our next outing together it is all square .
He did also try and claim bag wieght ,(bollocks ) although he could not try and claim species as i had this one 3-2.
Funnily enough we ere the only boat out there
apart from the round island yachts, and we did see a large basking shark close to where we were fishing .All in all not a bad session and at least skip went home a £ to the better
