Didn't get a chance to report last weeks session, first of the year. Fishing wasn't up to much last Tuesday, plenty of herring but not a lot else. Callig, Pout, Ling and Codling were all that was caught and as there was no a fish over 5lb and anyone with over 5 species, the pools rolled over to this week.
First stop tonight, chasms for some bait. Herring were quickly found then followed by Mackies all in abundance for nearly everyone. Everyone but Michael Kinnish were finding the Mackerel, the skipper even stopped a few times on the way to the next mark to give him chance to catch a Mackerel. A decision was made, that if he couldn't catch one by the end of the night, the pink rod was his for next week. He didn't catch one
After messing about trying to find the skippers blue eyed boy a mackerel, we eventually got to Perwick to get some more species!
Callig and Cuckoo were caught first, I sneaked out a Pout and a Ballen too! and a solitary Launce by Graham Newsome. A few went for the big fish pool, looking for a fish over 5lb. Ling were then caught, managed to increase my lead to 7 species, which then seemed to make everyone want to chase the species pool and stop me from taking it!
Only a few codling were caught tonight, not able to get among them my self!
Graham scratched out a cuckoo to take him up to six, needing a ling in the dying 10 minutes to draw and me needing a codling to take it beyond them, Graham got his ling! I got stuck in the bottom and lost my trace!
So the £21 for Species and £21 for biggest fish roles over to next Tuesday.
