Back to what i like best species hunting ,catch and return ,can't beat it ,well we set off with a plan ,stuck to it and let the rest go hang .tuesday wilst all around us headed south in search of bait ,ie ,mackie and launce ,billy and i headed north to one of our marks up there where we reapedthe benifit of getting our bait quickly and this enabled us to get to the first mark we wanted to fish very quickly .We were so into it ,even cuckoo wrasse were caught at a place you don't often find them but if you get them they count any where .from our 1st mark we could see Cams boat about 1/2 a mile away anchored up and fishing hard . We moved from this spot to our trusty tope mark and within no time up they were a coming along with spurdogs aswell ,bullhuss mde an appearance to help with our tallies .

we could see the other boats close in along the the Calf of Man (small island just of the main one )which is where we headed to get our bollan wrasse and coalies just off the Chicken Rock .

We then went to the wart banks in search of flatties and we were not dissapointed ,we soon got dabs but the for a window of about 15 mins the plaice came out to play ,i even had a double to go with the single i already had ,but it was my double of them whichalso gave me another prize of fish of the day whish wieghed in at 1lb 5ozs.Our delight was emense and sure enough the mark was duely put into the GPS as it was only come accross by accident .

Any way time was up and we headed back to port smug with ourselves at what we consider getting a new flattie mark .

THURSDAY:

alot of people had mixed feelings about this one we were hoping to switch it to friday because the weather was turning a bit snotty . the man in charge Bob Taylor said that we were going so off we went . all boats came out of the harbour and kept close into the land except 1,yep you guessed it Billy and i ran the gauntlet and headed out towards our tope mark thinking that we might get one or two vey quickly before it got to rough out there ,wrong we got to the Amber Rose wreck did a couple of very fast drifts and then decided that the better part of valour was to head closer to shore.



Like every body else we did struggle to get fish ,but sometimes you get that little bit of luck and its that that keeps you in front .You know its hard going when you see people fishing in spots that they don't normally fish .

By the end of the day every body was glad to get in as it was near the end of a tiring week with all boat anglers having given their all in the pursuit of glory .

For the first 3 days of this years festival we were able to make welcome to the Isle of Man 3 boats from the Prestatyn sailing club who brought their boats over on trailers to give our fishing a try . I don't think they were disappointed as all marks given to them by myself and Cam sayle proved to be very productive for them .The boys said that wherever they were whilst here every body made them most welcome .They made a real point of telling us all to be on warning as they intend to come back in force after using this as a sighter .

Couldn't thank you anymore for all the help you give over the week, pity there weren't a few others like your self.
A bit pissed of today, as all I have heard back from certain committee members since the festival " I am not happy with the amount of money the club has spent, and we will not be doing that again"!
Well as far as I am concerned , who pays for the time that myself and Tony put into this and your self of course, basically grabbing this event by the scruff of the neck and making into a bigger and better event.
Work as already started for next year, which I promise is going to be twice the event! Just hope everybody else involved starts to think in the right direction.
It would be nice to see more of the local boats come down, it would be nice to try and tweak things to try and work the event either side of the weekend, to suit the locals and probably visiting anglers...see what happens??

no probs on the help given ,would you remind the committe at your next meeting that the money that the club has is "OURS THE MEMBERS" and not THEIRS ,i have seen this all to often over the years with all sorts of clubs .



If the members wish it then the committee must abide by those wishes and spend accordingly ,the club is not a buisnees but a club as long as it breaks even then what is the problem .

how much have you spent ? the rewards will come after the articles are printed in BOAT FISHING MONTHLY ,you watch next year.

The person this regards is doing a very good job as our treasurer, but unfortunately not seeing the big picture, and yes, seems to think it is a business that we are running and important to make yearly profits!
The way I see it, we are investing in our own future and we will see big benefits from it.
It won't be an issue, but I think some people don't like change and the work that is going to be involved with it.

Just spoken to geoff from the Prestatyn club ,he says its a defo forat least 6 boats from their club coming next year ,better get Tony to have a word with the steam packet .

why not fish fri sat sun and monday so they can do it on a five day trip ? or fish till 9pm fri and monday and you might get a few more manx boats to fish

Yes, we all know that is the best way, but convincing the others is another thing. I think it would work just as well for the visiting angler as it does for the local.

well cam, b.t. is a law unto him self, we should have cancelled thursday and fished shore instead, damaged boat putting on to the trailer in that wind.
i would like to see a format for the privte boats along the lines of jamies comp's,charter to nstay as is, and get rid of the shore comp on the saturday as it is a waste of time if you do not get corner peg,
i enjoyed mannin week but it really needs a good shake up, why not get some of our lads to jump on mannins committee, just a thought, the festival has a lot of potential, good luck for tomorrow.......

Good points, but main priority is to accommodate the visiting angler, which I feel would be to work the Boat comps around the weekend ( Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday), surely would make everyone happy?
As for " why not get some of our lads to jump on the Mannins committee", that would be a backwards move, as no offence to anyone, I have seen the shite that comes out of people mouths over stupid silly things, they are never satisfied.
