The 1st day of the boat fishing got under wa\y with a bit of a fancy dress show with all boats putting bunting on and draping themselves with balloons all for just a bit of fun to start the 60th mannin week off .
With the fun over it was time for some of us to get serious and start getting points on the table .I was on Tax Rebate 1 and along side my partner for the week billy booth we set about ammassing some points . Easy some were to collect as you were only allowed to catch a max of 3of any one species, so the likes of the launce ,ballan wrasse ,pollock ,coalies ,cuckoo wrasseto name a few were easy to get . We went to our south tope mark and within the 1/2 hr tope ,bull huss and spurdogs were coming to the surface .
Billy with a fish
I must say that prior to this we had been out to the PSM haddock mark which fished very well and gave up some valuble species
.
by the end of a hard 6hrs fishing we returned to Port st mary to find out how every body else had faired. One thing we all had to agree on was the fact that there was a very distinct lack of mackie about .
