Well on his way to a full recovery Admin went out for a nice spot of fishing today and ended up taking part in a species hunt agaist Michael Emery and Barry Dulson. Bait was a little bit of a struggle today in the form of Mackie but was found at Spanish Head. with that fishing was done in the same area before heading for the sheddings in search of Congers.
At this stage the scores were all even with 4 species although they were made up of different species with both Michael and Barry both having Pollock but i had a Coalfish in my haul.
Michael had a cracking bite at the Sheddings, but the fish decided to let go of the bait half way to the surface, nothing much more was caught in our time here as it was decided to head back toward Douglas and fish My Tope mark again where earlier in the day we had stopped to get Mackie and i had landed a Tub Gurnard at the same time.
The scores were still quite close on this second visit to this mark with michael on 6, Barry on 5 and me on 6. Several good bites were had by all anglers but nothing came of them until Michael landed a Dog Fish closely followed by a small Bull Huss, the beam on his face as he thought he now had the upper hand and was in touch of winning the £ pool.
The swim seemed to turn into Doggie central and i also soon had one and then a small Huss. i then changed rigs and soon found myself fighting a very nice Tope. This put me 9-6 ahead of Michael with Barry not able to improve on his score of 5.
I once more changed my rig to a 3 hook down rig and within a couple of minutes i had a Dragonette counting as well, on the next drop i was able to catch a very nice Dab, by now the stare from the other side of the boat was burning a hole in my back, this made me 11 - 8 up against Michael with poor Barry still on 5. It was at this point that barry had a very nice Bull Huss right up to the side of the boat before it let go and swam back down into the depths.
We decided to have one final move to the Douglas Bay mark where upon we were all catching small codling along with loads of Mackie.
Time was now up with the barrier due to come up, so inorder to get the boat back up the harbour time was called on the competition with the final scores as follows
Jamie Hinchliffe 12 species
Michael Emery 8 species
Barry Dulson 6 species
During the day a total of 14 different species wich were
