With the weather a little hit and miss it was decided that this comp should go ahead. Abscentees were noted but two skippers were off fishing Ramsey angling festival whilst one boat was out of the water with enghine trouble whilst two other skips did not fancy the thought of fishing in what turned out to be a rather calm night.Any way boats from Douglas and Port st mary did take part for this heaviest pollack comp which was to be fished at Castletown Bay.
It was nice to see the return off falusi 11 into the fold once more with edwin Jones and guest crewman Gary Bridsonboth in confident mood for taking the spoils. T R 1 also fished and as it turned out to great effect.Bones Skip had his own guest crewman in the form of Simon "Scummer" Reed onboard.
The fishing on the night was steady but not great with no real heavywieghts being caught, but the banter between all crews was very good. Simon broke his virginity by catching his first ever ling and again whilst no monster it was nice to see him break his duck with one wieghing in at 3lb.6.875ozs,this was the only ling caught on the night, but simon was not finished yet as he also caught a nice Cod of 3lb.7.375ozs.
The Comp was to have been fished til 10pm ,but with TR having to get back due to no lights on trailer and Crewman Bridson not liking the dark best was given and all met at the yacht club in Douglas for the wiegh-in.
