| I have a foot in both camps here, what I mean by that is I fully enjoy the mannin festival , you are never going to win a fortune but you have a weeks fishing with a good crowd of CLUB anglers, I see this as a weeks holiday doing something I enjoy. On the other hand I am a competitive match angler and enjoy competing for the big prizes but it is a lot more stressful. What I would hate to see is mannin week becoming a cut throat money match the way Ramsey angling festival is, where you get more match anglers than the locals that have fished it for years, Im not saying this is entirely wrong as I fish it every year and have won it so dont want to sound hypicritcal but there is room for both types of competition. Gazz mannin festival is not about the money, if it was I wouldnt fish it as I lose too much taking the time off. Good luck to Jamie and his comp I'll more than likely be there but leave mannin week alone, The 2 day comp Cams on about could be a sponsored big money comp separate to the main festival. OK rant over, but I feel quite strongly about this. |

| Steve it is a separate comp from the main festival but it is not a big money sponsered comp .Mannin angling in its entirety is not about the "Money" "Money" "Money" its all about the "Taking part" "part" "part" not about the "bling" "bling" a "ching" "ching" its all about the "Fishing" "Fishing" ding ding .

| Steve, I have to agree....Straight faced talking now. Lets get one thing straight, our 2 days extra isn't going to be bling bling, cash cash look at me la la la. Its aim is to "maybe" interest people who are not interested in fishing for a full week of fishing, but would rather make use of the a weekend, and not chomping into a week of work, resulting in most cases losing out in money and using up holidays (which I like to spend with family). The extra 2 days, is a part of the festival, but in no way undermine the festival. Just an added incentive. I feel a bit fucked off now, especially your comments garry! What are you trying to make out the Mannin A.C festival to be??? What I see it to be, is a very successful event, run by a "CLUB" with massive history (60 years of festival), still going strong, mainly because of one thing, no involvement with any other club/association on the island...avoided the back stabbing, big headed bollock's leaving a lot of usual's suspects mouths. We as a "CLUB", put our resources into future, the kids come first, they are priority over any "whose got the biggest dick" events. The key for us, is to teach youngsters the new ways of angling (don't mean bling bling tackle), for example importance of conservation, proper handling, identification, but most important of all fun....Fun is what fishing is about, a relief from the life of the day, enjoy and rest the mind! I have heard all I need to hear, points have now been proved for me. I will only post updates on this site about the festival, no longer take anymore part in this. Thank you for backing us up Steve and seeing the real meaning of the word fishing.....Despite our differences we had the other day lol |
