| After years of using the Slosh 30's for boat/beachcasting loaded with 18lb red ice line,i decided to buy meself 2 brand new Slosh 20's,reason being was that i was told by a good match angler that if i wanted to improve casting with a Slosh that i would have to go to the 20 version plus drop down in line weight too,so loaded my new 20's with 15lb red ice.Slosh 20's have smaller spools but hauling big fish in is a dream, just the same as the 30 version,Henry Gilbey will tell you that there is no other reels on the market that have a better retrieve as he used the Slosh 50 version on the beach's in Namibia for the infamous Bronze Shark. Off i went to the field to test my 2 new Slosh 20's out.Over run after over run!I thought i made a bad mistake in buying these new Slosh 20's!So after tuning them to the right setting for a 5oz weight i was away, getting good casts but still a choke or two from the reels when the weight was in flight So searched the internet for a resolution, there it was.......The Daiwa Slosh Mag Conversion Kit!Looked around for reviews but couldnt find anything, hence that is why im putting this review on now for other people to look at.I ordered the kit off Blak Dog TackleQuite easy to fit and complete with insrtuctions, here's how i constructed it............. Remove left side plate of reel, remove all ratchet components from your left side plate, leaving only the bearing and shim in place. Remove the C clip and cog from the end of your spool shaft, also remove the centrifugal brake block pin from the spool shaft (it will just pull out with pliers). Open the clicker hole in your side plate to 8mm, i used a drill with 8mm drill bit. Fit the bush into this hole so that the threaded side is sticking out of the side plate. Screw on the spacer and tighten with pliers (protect spacer with a rag). Screw the shaft with the spring fitted into the bush from the inside until the head of the magnet is just proud of the semi circular plastic area. The internal view of your reel should now look like this External view Now onto the spool, clean the side face of the spool and the spool shaft with lighter fluid or white spirit to remove all traces of grease. Put a couple of drops of super glue onto the spool shaft near the spool and slide on the disc ensuring that it's right back against the spool face. It should now look like this Refit your side plate (no need for screws at this stage). Grip the thread of the mag screw between thumb and forefinger and wind the magnet in until it just touches the spool, then wind it half a turn, then check the spool will spin without the magnet rubbing against the spool. Remove the side plate, then holding the magnet with thumb and forefinger to retain this set position screw on the knob until it's right down on the spacer and tighten the grub screw in the knob. Refit your sideplate and your'e ready to go! After fitting this it now casts like a dream! So a great reel for retrieving the fish in is now ALSO a great reel for casting,it's a no brainer! I must add that you would lose your ratchet on the reel if you added the Mag Conversion Kit,i have 2 Slosh 20's for beachcasting with Mag,and have 2 Slosh 30's for the boat with the ratchet for the tope Why not try it out? Im not messin ere but these conversion kits are the dogs bollocks, the distance that im gettin now is unbelievable! |

| But you have lost the ratchet?? If you want distance and power, why not go for a penn mag. Use my slosh's for the heavier side of fishing, where ratchet a ratchet can be essential! Can whack my slosh 20(old type) a good chuck any way, with just a small break block and fine oil in the bearings. |

| Did you put the break blocks in when you bought the reels? sometimes they ain't in the reel and have to put them in your self. |

| cam,i have my slosh 30's for the boat,i was speakin to henry gilbey aba this,he didnt reccomend it,he told me to put it 1 red block for the 20's and 2 red in the 30's,but tbh m8 im gettin a lot more distance with the mag as i tried and tested both.
i only bought 2 new 20's for the shore fishin but i have 2 slosh 30's with ratchet along with a slosh 50 for the boats,so im covered in all areas |
