SUNDAY 6TH MARCH 2016 Empty
PostSubject: SUNDAY 6TH MARCH 2016   SUNDAY 6TH MARCH 2016 Icon_minitimeMon Mar 07, 2016 1:53 am

With high water being 9 am today it was an early start to the day firstly walking the dog and then being ready for the flap gate to go down at 7am. The start of the day was full of sunshine and although there was not a lot of wind what there was would cut through you if not wrapped up.

Bait fishing at the back of Douglas Head produced Launce and very Small Mackerel, however the Herring were here as well and although a lot were on the small side there were some decent sized ones also.

Knowing that the fishing here is not at its best at this time of year you have hope that you are just able to scratch out a few different species to make the session enjoyable. Leaving Douglas Head i headed South and fished a Callig mark just off the Afton wreck. This produced Callig but only on the small side with nothing above the 2lb mark. With only Callig showing here I decided to move on to a couple of sand banks close to my Tope mark and see if there was any thing to be had, only Whiting and the odd Mackerel made themselves known here.

I headed back to the Douglas bay mark and once again Whiting Mackie and Herring were the only fish to show up.
The tackle that i used today was Daylite and Shrimp feathers along with a 2 up 1 down scratchy rig, with Mackie and Small Sand Eels as the main bait.

It was nice to see a few other boats out wetting a line today and i believe all who were out got into the fish with some getting some decent Mackerel although they said they were very hit and miss.

Not much more to be said of the day really, we just have to take our chances to get out there when the weather allows, summer is just around the corner and the Tope should be startingto show here next month.

Here are a couple of piccys from today.
