Had a couple of trips over this year already, with failed results on the tope in what seemed like textbook perfect conditions. Hearing on the grapevine that the smaller tides were producing, we booked the ferry unusually more than a week in advance just to get over on the weekend last. Friday approached it looked like the trip had gone tits up weather wise, big varying westerly winds were in for the duration.
Luckily on Friday, we managed to bump into the only other rod on the beach Mr Quirk, who inspired us to fish what we thought would be a no chance tide, he told us he had a run, and also managed to pull a fish in the upper 20's to prove it can fish in a big sea. Cheers for the confidence boost and the tips feller!
Anyway, all weekend and early this week saw us trapped up the point, only real chance of fishing in the big seas, we probs averaged only one run per tide between us, not hectic, but enough to keep us fishing, a few lost fish and a few on the beach, my biggest hit 33lb, and young Georgies 20lb. I know nothing special for you lads, but finally making probs the last trip of the year a success. Roll on next year!
