With it being bank holiday weekend it was nice to get at least one day a float and with my own boat out of the water for the foreseeable future i was invited by Merit 1 for an afternoons fishing on sunday.
We set off out of Douglas harbour at lunch time and after gathering Mackie & launce from the back of Douglas Head we headed for a tope mark not far from Langness.
The fishing for the day was mainly to target Tope , but they seemed to be very few and far between with the only person on the day to catch one was co skipper Lee Graham. This was at last knockings after already loosing one a short time earlier with the later quite obviously the bettter fish although the one that was landed wieghed in at just on the 40lb mark.
The rest of the afternoons fishing was steady with the normal Pollack, Coalies and a couple of Cod for the table, the suprise of the day was a bull huss and 3 Congers, one by Lee and two by my good self .
We had a total of eight species in our little session where the crack was good and for a short time Trampie who had been down in Castletown Bay fishing with little success although one tope was taken by crewman Simon Reed, came and tied up along side us to share a bit of fun and banter.
Here are a few pics of the day
