Kirsty 111 set off out of Douglas harbour with the sea flat and hardly a breath of wind and headed round the back of douglas head in the search of mackie. non was found although plenty of launce were to be had.The day was going to be a species hunt with no size limits due to the time of the year and was all for the £ pool money.
Skip Emmo and Myself then headed up to our destination to a mark just off Laxey.Anchor was deployed but skip was not too happy at the lack of fish at this mark so after a short time we moved to a mark closer in to the shore.
Fishing here was slightly better but any fish caught certainly were no record breakers, Micheal was busy pulling in dog after dog and he also got a whiting. I had managed to get a Grey Gurnard and a Doggie which made it 2-2. Emmo moved into the lead when he cought a Grey and i equelled it up by eventually catching a Whiting myself. Nothing more was fore coming here in the respect of different species so we upped anchor and headed out to the wreck of the Ballina.
Here we found that getting the same drift for whatever reason was not easy so some drifts took us right over the reck whilst others (suprise Suprise ) did not .
Micheal managed to get a couple of decent Pouting on a couple of the drifts using daylight feathers and the on the next drift allowing a little more line out he managed to coerse a sizeable ling out from the wreck to make it 5-3.Time was running out and finally i did manage to get a Pouting but the bonus fish of the day proved to be Micheals Ling.
We both agreed at the beginning of the day that 6 species would be a good haul, and if the launce were brought into the equation then we were both proved right the final score including the launce was 6-5 in Micheals favour which also means that he is now £6 up on the year so far,but there is along way to go yet.
Here is Emmos haul of GOLD COINS
