Well the decision was made to go out fishing no matter what the weather was doing. When the gate went down it was raining and when i finally came back it was still drizzling . First call was the back of the head for some mackie bait , job done then went on the drift to see what was about in the bay. Nothing much was caught here except red gurnards and a couple of small calig .With the mist drifting in and out i said sod it and headed out to the Paddle wheel just before slack. Not alot doing there either so i went accross to the Lady Lou where red gurnards poor cod and 1 solitary pouting was caught. with the tide turning i proceeded south to the tope mark off santon and decided to drift with a scratcy rig with a big bait on a pennal boom at the bottom. On the other rod were the ever present shrimp rig still trying to get a sight of a shoal of mackie.
By the time i had drifted back to the centre of douglas bay no mackie were caught,i think theyv'e p*ssed off, although i did catch the odd single one all day. The main rig with the big baits on could only produce dog after dog ,but least i was getting a little sport out of the day .
It does have to be said that the weather was not the best today, and it was noticed that Merit 1 did not make it out for a second go at the Blues, (late night was it Gazz:?: ). So the Jet Ski had a good run out if nothing else ,but still need to have one last go to locate and catch one last haul of mackie for the winter. All fish caught were nothing special so i did not think it was worth taking any pics .
