| An early start and flat calm conditions today, left the slip at 7.30ish low water on a big tide meant no mackrel at the back of douglas head so we headed out to the lady louise area, no mackrel here but found a large shoal of herring instead. Anchored up on 6 mile mark while tide was still slack and Tiger had a good huss to side of boat that spat hook on the surface, one small spur and a few red gurnards was all it produced for the next hour so we headed to grenaugh, anchored up and may as well have gone to sleep for 3 hrs. The tide run meant you couldnt hold bottom with over a pound of lead, other boats that were drifting the reef must have been pushed through at 4 or 5 knots. The tide finally slackened and we had an hour of fishable conditions during which tiger caught a small bream then it went dead again. Gave up then and headed for home, the weather conditions were perfect but fishing was shite. Moral of the story, dont bother fishing big tides |

| Merit 1 had a loverly run out today. Steamed 22 miles and fished for sharks all day. With a good chum trail out we managed half a box of very small mackerel , herring, tub gernards, dogfish, plenty of spur dogs, a couple of nice Tope a 1 bull huss. All in all a very nice day out aflloat with some nice fishing just a pitty no sign of a big bad blue. I'll ask the lads to forward the pics on to you Jamie. Gonna have another run out tomorrow to see what another day brings. Will keep u posted |
