Erm, where did the older posts go
.
Last day of the year, got an invite out on Martin Lambdens boat Solid Air. The 31st December, for the last few years, seems to be the day we hit good numbers of Bream. With the early cold snap, I had a feeling it wasn't going to happen this time... It didn't, but saying that, we never fished Castletown today.
We started the day off going to the sheddans, but after pretty lifeless drifts, with a couple of small Callig caught by my self, we headed for Perwick.
Stuck the Anchor down over the Bream mark, but as expected little interest. I had the spinning rod out for a play with the Callig, matched with the recently trusty Regdill Evo, I had some great sport with some lovely condition callig up to 4lb (all released!). Martin had a couple of half decent Ballen and a solitary Ling.
We didn't stick there too long, there wasn't much movement in the tide. We headed for the warts in search of some live Sandeel, which we located straight away! Stuck the other rod down, hoping for a Dab, which was rewarded quickly with a nice plump Dab! Got another plump Dab on the next drift, then the whiting turned up and spoiled the party!
We headed back to the mark in Perwick, now armed with some live Sandeel. Callig straight away, the best was Martins of just under 7lb.. I got dicked into the Kelp by what was probably a double figure fish, my own fault with messing around with the spinning rod
. I got a cuckoo wrasse to make it 7 species for the day.
Finished an excellent year, on high! Would like to say thanks to Steve, Emmo and Jamie for having me out on their boats this year, I had a great time!
Happy New Year to all, role on 2011!!
