08:00 and myself and Ben Richards met at the battery Pier in Douglas ready for a trip out with Michael Emery on his boat Coastal Rider. Bait of fresh Mackie was easily caught at the back of Douglas Head and then we were off for a 7 hr session. , There were two pools for the day which were longest Bass and most species .
The fishing for the most part produced a total of 11 different species as we fished on the drift for most of the day. However we did anchor-up for a couple of hours and had some great Tope fishing which produced fish up to about 40 lb.
After this we fished a wreck which only produced Pouting and Poor Cod, but we were then off to fish for the main pool of the Bass.
Both Michael and Ben caught a few bass each with Ben taking the days Pool with a fish of 46 cms.
Time came to an end for this session and we headed back to port and found that on the species hunt Michael had 10 species with Ben on 9 and me on 8 . The day was enjoyed by all except me who had to part with 2 round £'s one to Ben and the other to Michael.
Species caught on this trip were : BALLAN WRASSE,CALIG,TOPE ,MACKIE,POUTING,POOR COD,BASS,GREY GURNARD,RED GURNARD,WHITING AND DOGFISH.
Here are a couple of the Tope photos:
