The start of the days fishing in Douglas bay

COASTALRIDER DEBUT COMPETITION 2020. 90416711

The start of Michael Emery's new boats Manx Fishing adventures got underway with its 1st proper competitive outing today in the blazing sunshine here on the Isle of Man. Joining us today was fellow keen angler Mikey Cooper on his 1st outing as Bog Rat 3rd class.
Fishing got off to a slow start in Douglas Bay looking for both Mackie and Launce as part of the days bait for what was going to be a species hunt for a prize of a round £. Both Mackie and Launce we found at the back of Douglas Head and from here we then head South to the Castletown Bay marks. On the 1st drop both Michael and myself fishing different lures were straight into the Ling with Mikey not too far behind.

with nothing else much showing at this mark we moved onto the Sheddings mark but this proved fruitless, so off we went to the Warts Bank mark where only Whiting and Launce were forthcoming. From here we headed back out to sea to the South Haddock mark where no Haddock showed but red Gurnard Cuckoo Wrasse and Whiting put in a showing , just as we were about to move on Michael manage to sneak in a small Poor Cod.

Moving on from here we headed for a Cod Mark but this only produced a Cuckoo Wrasse for Michael along with a couple of Whiting, Next port of call was the Liverpool Wreck which gave us Cuckoo Wrasse, Pouting, Callig and Coalies.

It was at this stage that we took stock of what had been caught by us all and who was in the lead for the round £.
Mikey Cooper was bring up the rear with 6species whilst I was 2nd with 8 and Michael was in  the lead  with 9, this meant that all was to play for at our last fishing spot which was back at the Douglas Bay mark.

We had limited time at this mark where the only fish taken was a small Whiting for Mikey Cooper to take his tally for the day to 7. Time was up and the day was turning into night when we finally wound in at 7pm. We then headed back into port to clean the boat and head home .
Many Thanks to Michael Emery for the invite out today and thanks to Mikey Cooper showing off his chef skills cooking both breakfast bacon and egg baguettes and burger and  chilli cheese baps for lunch.
For the record 10 species in total were caught today which were: COALFISH, CALLIG, CUCKOO WRASSE,LAUNCE,MACKEREL,POUTING,POOR COD,LING, WHITING & RED GURNARD.
The final result ;
1St Michael Emery 9 species and the round £
2nd M B F 8 species
3rd Mikey Cooper  7 species and is yet to pay Michael a round £
Once again a great day out on Emmo's new boat , fishing not the best but the laughs were thick and fast

Regards
